Your First Visit to the Doctor

When Arjun woke up with a sore throat that would not go away, he decided to see a doctor. He called the clinic and the receptionist scheduled an appointment for the next morning. She reminded him to bring his insurance card and arrive fifteen minutes early to fill out some paperwork.

At the office, a nurse took his temperature and blood pressure, then led him to a small exam room. The doctor asked about his symptoms, listened to his chest, and looked at his throat. She said it was probably a mild infection and nothing serious.

The doctor wrote him a prescription and told him to pick it up at the pharmacy. She also suggested rest and plenty of fluids. On his way out, Arjun stopped at the front desk to handle his copay. The whole visit took less than an hour, and he felt relieved to have it sorted out.
